WMS Pajama Party!

PAJAMA-PARTY-LOGO_thumb[1]

Hi all!  Today I’m playing in the Waltzingmouse Stamps Pajama Party.  Specifically Challenge 4 – Golden Oldies.  I used my oldest WMS set - Very Vintage Labels No. 4, and just for fun, one of my newest sets - Funky Feathers for the sentiment:

Labels4 5

It’s a Project Life journaling card and hopefully the story I tell on it will tickle!  (Love that sentiment!!)  I finished it off with some hand stitching around the inner oval and a matching brad.  I hope you like it and TFL!

Naughty & Nice

Hi all!  I’m back with my second card for the TCP Tuesday challenge:

RaisingCane1

I know it’s a little early for Christmas cards, but I was flipping through my TCP stamps and came across this one that I haven’t used and the idea of putting him in front of a really tall tree popped into my head!  The set is called Raising Cane and just like all the bun sets, it’s totally adorable!!  I colored him with Copics, fussy cut him out and mounted him with foam tape.  The tree top was cut with my Zing using Make-The-Cut and a Lettering Delights file (sorry can’t remember which one!).  I added a chunk of brown cardstock for the trunk and a sentiment from the set.  Hope you like it and TFL!

Oh Chute!

Hi all!  Today I have an entry for the current TCP Tuesday challenge – create a long tall card.  I actually made 2 so I’ll share the other one tomorrow.  For now, here’s the one I created with the set Oh Chute!

OhChute1

As you can see, there’s a little space at the bottom where you can pull down on the card and the bunny “floats” down.  Here he is at the bottom:

OhChute1b

I used Make-The-Cut and my Zing to cut out that long skinny track that the bunny moves on and used a circle punch for the hole at the bottom.  The parachute was paper pieced and the bunny was colored a bit with Copics.  I hope you like it and I’ll see you back tomorrow (hopefully!) for my second long tall card!  TFL!

Last Minute

Hi all!  I have a couple last minute challenge entries to share today.  The first is for

Feb2013N&T1

It’s for their Project Life Challenge.  I made a simple journaling card with some simple stories paper and a freebie N&T image that I printed onto PP, cut out and popped up on foam tape.  I finished off the card with a little flag onto which I hand stitched a heart.

Next I tried my hand at this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch:

CTS_Sketch_42

I came up with this:

LoveYou1

I used a Simon Says Stamp die cut (you) and hand stitched a heart.  Buuuuuuut, I didn’t feel like it really captured the sketch elements correctly, so I tried again and got this:

LoveYou2

Much better!  This time I stitched the heart right over and arrow I cut with my Zing using Make-The-Cut and added on the you in alpha stickers.  The gems finish it off and the whole PP panel is popped up on foam tape.  I hope you like them and TFL!

Custom Project Life Cards

Hi all!  I have some custom made PL cards for you today.  The first was made following the MFT Card Sketch and the CHA-exclusive stamp set My Heart Belongs to:

MyHeartBelongsTo1

I used the Journaled Weekly die set from YNS for the base, then the Journal Card Bracket Insert for the focal panel.  The patterned paper already had that cool chevron design printed on the bottom.  I sewed on a couple flags using Blueprints 1 and added a border using Blueprints 5.  Finally, I added the I love you using the stamp set.

Next I have a 3-card specialty set.  All 3 use the Journaled Weekly die set for the base – LOVE that 3x4 die!!

PLSet1a

This card is meant to be a journaling card, but is so pretty, it can be used as a filler card.  I hand stitched the heart and added the flag with brad on the top.

PLSet1b

This next card is a shaker with hand stitching around the window and filled with confetti punched from the same range of papers.  There’s space on the bottom for a little journaling or stamping.

PLSet1c

This final card is a library pocket with library card insert.  I sewed up the sides of the pocket and the library card from Overdue fits in there perfectly!!  It’s a match that was meant to be! :)  I stamped the card, die cut it with a die from the Clip It die set and added a little flag with a brad so it can easily be pulled out from its pocket.  This can be used for journaling that you want to hide, or simply as a fun interactive element in your PL album.  I hope you like this set and TFL!

YNS After Party!

Hi all!  Welcome to my post for the YNS August New Release After Party!  Today I have a card for you:

BirthdayPrincessYNS1

I used the new Birthday Princess clear set (the sentiment is included!).  She was watercolored with Distress reinkers, cut out and popped up on foam tape.  I cut apart the sentiment to make it stamp lined up this way.  Don’t be afraid to cut up your stamps! :)

You can check out the YNS Blog to see all the designers that are playing in the after party.  TFL!

And now, onto my projects:

First up I have a couple of journaling cards that I made for Project Life using 2 of the new die sets – Journal Card Bracket Insert and Journal Card Scallop Insert respectively:
JournalCardBracketInsert1 JournalCardScallopInsert1
For both cards, the patterned paper bases were cut with the 3x4 die from the Journaled Weekly Die Set, then I topped them with layers cut with the new die sets.  For the scalloped one, I simply typed on the word Sauce! with my typewriter.

The words on the kraft layers could hang off the top edge of the cards if I just cut up to the sides of the words, but I chose to leave the excess attached for a different look.  I’m sure that’s clear as mud – we’ll have a video up soon that shows how to use these die sets.  Watch for the links on the YNS Facebook page.

This next project is a birthday card for my hubby:
Overdue2
Yes, it’s on Dec. 14, so I’m pretty early, which is ironic considering the name of the stamp set is Overdue!  I cut the library card, heart and faux washi tape with dies from the new Clip It die set and finished it off with a little twine.

Karen is also offering some fabulous Hop Specials at the YNS Store!  Any orders over $25.00 will receive a FREE YNS Birthday Stamp!!!  Plus, YNS is having a month long sale so make sure you take advantage of these special offers!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Kerri’s amazing blog, but don’t forget to leave a comment before you go!  Thank you so much for stopping by and as always, happy hopping and shopping!

Prehistoric Birthday

Hi all!  Today I have a card for a couple of challenges:

PIPrehistoricGirl

The sketch is from CAS(E) this Sketch and the stamp set is called PI Prehistoric Girl from MFT.  I computer generated the sentiment to go with the Little Tangles challenge - Create a Birthday Card using a set that's not usually associated with Birthdays.  If you click on the set link above, you can see that this set had nothing to do with birthdays.  I hope you like it and TFL!

How I killed a card kit – Part 3

Hey all!  Thanks for joining me for Part 3 of my kit killing series!  In case you missed them, here are Part 1 and Part 2.

Today I’m going to start with the 4 1/4 square cards:

CardExchanging12

A simple stamped background using the solid circle in the stamp set, then the little hello sentiment.  I finished it off with some sequins from my stash.

CardExchanging13

This card uses elements cut with some Blueprints dies from MFT.  The little letter was stamped on a scrap of paper, cut out and popped up on foam tape.

And now for the little notecards:

CardExchanging14

This little notecard came in the kit. I just added some pieces of patterned paper that had nice sentiment printed on them and some twine.

CardExchanging15

I really liked this patterned paper from the kit, so I just cut it in half and made it into 2 3x3” notecards.  I stamped simple sentiments on each and tied on some twine from my stash.

And finally, the Project Life items.  A 4x6 title card:

CardExchanging16

I made my own burlap flower by copying the one that was included in the kit and topping it with the other flair from the kit.  The base is a piece of PP and I sewed on a flag that was cut with a Your Next Stamp die.

3x4 journaling cards:

CardExchanging17

CardExchanging18

The card on the right is merely PP that was cut with a Your Next Stamp die and I stapled on a little piece of another PP that says “Don’t forget to be awesome.”  The “hold fast” bit is part of the paper and I thought it would be perfect for PL!  The card on the left is a shaker that I filled with confetti made from the scraps of PP that were left over from the other projects!

Whew!  I can’t even believe myself that I got this much use out of 1 card kit!

Thanks so much for journeying with me on my kit killing adventure and I hope to be killing more kits in the future!

How I killed a card kit – Part 2

Hey all!  If you have no idea what I’m talking about, maybe you can go back and check out Part 1 of this series.

Today I’m going to show you the rest of the A2 cards that I made from the SSS August 2013 Card Kit.

CardExchanging7

I used the stencil again, this time with a light turquoise ink to match the CS in the kit.  I die cut a heart out of the strip with a Nesties die and fishtailed the end.  I sewed the strip onto the card base and stamped the sentiment inside the heart cutout.

CardExchanging8

This card used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, pink CS and B&W patterned paper from the kit and the stamp set.  The twine is from my stash.

CardExchanging9

This card used a couple pieces of PP from the kit and a sentiment that I made by cutting up 3 of the stamps in the set (“me laugh,” “my heart happy,” and “every day amazing”).  Don’t be afraid to cut up your stamps to make new sentiments – they’ll still work together after that just fine!

CardExchanging10

For this card, I used Tombow markers to trace inside the holes of the stencil in a rainbow of colors, then took my waterbrush and moved the color to fill in the shapes.  I finished it off with a stitched-on sentiment flag.

CardExchanging11

This last card was an attempt to use up the last whole piece of 6x6 PP that I had left.  I saw the one empty tag on the sheet and was so happy to find that the little hello sentiment from the stamp set fit in it!  Again I colored the heart with a red copic and to make sure you don’t miss it, I die cut an arrow from Your Next Stamp and popped it up on foam tape to point it out.

Please join me tomorrow as I wrap up the series with Part 3!  TFL!

How I killed a card kit – Part 1

I recently came across the phrase “killing a kit” in the Studio Calico forums.  It basically means using up just about everything in a kit.  A while ago I got the August 2013 card kit from Simon Says Stamp and it’s been sitting and waiting for me to play with it.  A few days ago, I made the decision that not only was I going to play with the kit, but I was going to KILL IT!

(BTW, I have an affiliate link to SSS which means that I’ll get a teeny commission on anything you purchase after clicking on the link in my sidebar, but other than that, I’m not connected in any way to SSS – just a loyal customer!)

Now, less than a week later, I’ve got 11 A2 cards, 2 4.25” square cards, 3 mini note cards, 1 4x6 Project Life title card, and 4 PL journaling cards!!  And just a few scraps of cardstock and patterned paper left over.  This is the very first time I killed a kit and I couldn’t be more excited to share this adventure with all of you!

First of all, here’s a picture of the kit:

SSS_cardkit_august_final_600

It came with a stamp set, cardstock, patterned paper, a note card, some embellies, and a stencil.  Here are some of the A2 cards I came up with:

CardExchanging1

I used the stencil and some white ink to make the background, then attached the flower that came in the kit over a stem I cut myself out of some of the patterned paper.  I die cut the leaves using a MFT die and added a sentiment from the stamp set.

CardExchanging2

I loved the look of the white stenciling on kraft, so I did it again with this card.  A simple sentiment, the heart colored with a copic, and some twine finish it off.

CardExchanging4

This card used half the woodgrain cardstock, the hello flair and the twine from the kit.

CardExchanging3

For this card, I die cut a flower and leaves using MFT dies and added them with some twine from my stash to the other half of the woodgrain CS.  Oh, and I shoved a small pearl into the center of the flower.

CardExchanging5

I used the stencil with my Big Shot machine to emboss the white textured panel.  I layered it over 2 different PPs and topped it off with a banner stamped with a sentiment from the kit set and a little die cut heart from Your Next Stamp (that’s a sneak peek at a new die being released this month!).

CardExchanging6

This last card for today used the pink CS from the kit and a darker pink ink to sponge over the stencil to make the focal pattern.  I added a couple thin strips of lighter pink CS on either side of the panel and finished it off with twine from my stash and a sentiment from the kit set.  I’m entering this card into the SSS challenge – Monochromatic.

I hope I’ll see you back tomorrow for Part 2!  TFL!

Vellum Thanks

Hi all!  I have a card made for the Paper Smooches challenge – Sheer/Clear:

PaperSmoochesMix4

I took the Power Rays Die and cut it out of dark pink cardstock then glued it to a lighter pink base card.  Next, I die cut the Thanks Word Die out of white cardstock and glued it over the Rays.  Finally, I sewed a piece of pink vellum over the whole thing for the sheer look.  I hope you like it and TFL!

Happy Birthday To You

Hi all!  I have a card made for the  CD_23

Petals&StemsAE1

The stamps are all from Avery Elle: Petals & Stems and  Handwritten Notes for the sentiment.  I die cut the flower using the Petals & Stems dies and stamped with a light yellow ink.  I then drew in some shading lines with a darker yellow InkTense pencil and lightly went over it with a water brush.  Finally I stamped a pink center and foam mounted the flower over the stamped leaves.  After stamping the sentiment with dark chocolate ink, the white panel was attached to the white card base and I glued 2 thin strips of green cardstock on either side to look like the panel was matted.

I took 8 minutes, 41.5 seconds to complete this card.  Yay!  I hope you like it and TFL!
