PB & J

Hi all!  I have another Fun Friday post for you.  Here’s a reminder of the inspiration pic and sketch:

May 2014 - photoMay 2014 Sketch

Once again I went with the colors of the inspiration pic – aqua, kraft and white and some pink baker’s twine.  I made a little giftie using the Gift Card Pillow Box die set:

OhJamIt2

I used the Oh, Jam It! and Fun Faces sets.  I stamped the sentiment and toast with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  Next I stamped the peanut butter and jelly smears with colored inks and stamped the fun little faces over those with black Versafine ink.  I used Tacky Glue to adhere the kraft panel to the pillow box (to make extra sure it doesn’t come apart) and tied a bit of pink twine around it.

This is also for Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes.

We hope you’ll play along with us!  All the details can be found at the YNS Challenge Blog.  TFL!

And now for my projects – I have 3 for you today, one that has a video!

First up, is a pop-up box card.  I’ve seen these all over the internet and my fellow YNS DT member, Wendy, has made some awesome ones and inspired me to give it a try!  Here’s my first go at one:

QuirkyAnimalsTwo1

I got some help from this post and used the ideas to make my own cut file in Make-The-Cut.  It was easier than I thought it would be!  For the animals, I used the Quirky Animals Set Two - stamping, coloring, and fussy cutting out each one.  I then used sentiments from Smiley Happy Critter Crew Set Four (from all of us), Birthday Animals (Let’s Celebrate and SURPRISE!) and Silly Monsters (Happy Birthday!).

Next up is a vellum box made with the new Gift Card Pillow Box dies and Flourishes stamp set.  I cut the box from vellum and stamped and embossed one image from Flourishes all over the box.  Then I cut a tag from Stitched Fishtail Tags One, stamped an embossed with another image from Flourishes and a sentiment from Silly Thank You Message (cut in half so they would stack).

Flourishes1

Finally, I have another pillow box project.  This one has a puzzle inside for your recipient to piece together – fun!

SmileyHappyCrittersSetFour1

I used the Gift Card Pillow Box Die Set, the Puzzle Die and Smiley Happy Critter Crew Set Four.   Here’s the video where I show the project start to finish:

YNS Sneaky Peek!

Hi all!  The Your Next Stamp New Release Blog Hop is tomorrow, so we’ve got some sneak peeks for you today.  Hopefully they’ll get you to come back for the hop!  Here’s mine:

OhJamIt1

I used the new sets Oh, Jam It!, Fun Faces, and Flourishes.  I die cut a circle then used a strip of Post-It Note to mask off a portion for the sentiment.  I stamped the toast in Memento ink and colored with Copics.  Then I stamped 3 different flourishes in 3 different colors all around the toast.  I took off the strip and stamped my sentiment and finally finished it off with a twine bow.

The sketch is from Retro Sketches and this is also for Divas By Design - Anything Goes.

You can check the YNS Blog for links to all the designers who have peeks for you today.  TFL and I hope to see you back for the Hop!

Happy Birthday!

Hi all!  It’s inspiration day over at the YNS Blog, which means that the DT has cooked up all sorts of eye candy using whatever YNS products they like!  It’s also Karen’s son Brandon’s birthday so we decided to keep all our inspiration pieces in a birthday theme.  He’s 6 so I decided to go with a set that I think is perfect for little boy cards - Silly Monsters.  Here’s what I came up with:

SillyMonsters1

I stamped the monster on white cardstock and aqua patterned paper and colored both with Copic markers.  There’s a matching die set, but I fussy cut out my monsters with scissors – the whole monster from the white cardstock and just the body from the PP.  I glued the PP body over the white cardstock monster and then stuck on some googly eyes with Glossy Accents.

The reason why the monster is off-center from the circle is because he’s actually floating above the card on an acetate spring!  Here’s a side shot so you can see it:

SillyMonsters1b

Basically it’s a .5” x 1.5” strip of acetate, scored and folded at every 1/2 inch.  A small slit was cut in the white circle and one end of the strip inserted and taped down, and the other end of the strip is taped to the back of the monster.  He jiggles with the slightest flick and his eyes go nuts – so fun!  BTW, you don’t have to cut the slit – you could just tape the strip to the white circle, but then you’d be able to see the tape from the side and it’s kind of ugly.  So that’s why I cut the slit instead.

This is also for Marker POP – anything goes (using markers) and Shopping Our Stash – birthday or anniversary card (and I used all old stuff from my stash on this card: an older stamp set and very old papers).

I hope you like it and please check out the YNS Blog for lots more birthday inspiration using YNS products! Also, 1 lucky winner from the comments on the YNS Blog will win a stamp set of their choice!

We also have a Facebook contest going on right now! Go on over and LIKE us if you haven't already and then check out this photo for all the details.

Finally, Karen has the biggest sale going on over at the YNS Store! Be sure to check it out!

Fun Friday and Stamping Royalty Prize!

Sorry, I know it’s Sunday, but I forgot to post my Fun Friday card!  Here are the inspiration pic and sketch again:

May 2014 - photoMay 2014 Sketch

And my card based on the colors of the inspiration pic:

WhatNotSentimentsTwo4

I took a piece of kraft cardstock and covered it diagonally with strips of washi tape to match the colors in the inspiration pic.  Then I ran it through my diecut machine with the shadow die from the Flower Fun One die set, but with the sandwich to emboss, not cut.   (I got the technique from Heather's blog – she even made a video on it so you can see how it’s done.)

Next I peeled off the washi tape that was inside of the embossed lines.  I peeled up the edges of the striped pink layer and stuck the panel onto white cardstock, then a kraft base.  For the flower, I covered the center of a piece of white cardstock with yellow washi and then die cut it using the same Flower Fun One die set.  Finally I embossed the sentiment from Whatnot Sentiments Two with white embossing powder.

This is also for Simon Says Stamp – Die Crazy.

Next up I have a little video showing all the products I got in my Stamping Royalty prize package, in case you’re interested:

Thanks again to Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine for putting on the contest and to all the wonderful companies who gave product for the prize package!!  And thanks to you for dropping by!

Gallery Idol 2014

Hi all!  First off, hope you all had a nice Mother’s Day!  Hubby’s been taking care of me all day – how sweet!

Next, I have an entry into the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol open audition.  The theme is Decorative Tape so I busted out some of my neglected washi tapes and made this:

FrameIt1

I used the Frame It stamp set and my Flower Fun Two die set.

First I cut the flower shadow from white cardstock and then covered it with 3 different washi tapes in black and gold.  Then I ran it through with the die over it again to cut off all the excess tape.  I added the outline cut in gold cardstock from A Muse|Studio and a black Gum Drop from YNS.

This is also for Simon Says Stamp – Spring Flowers and Delightful Challenges – Petal Power.

I really love how this card came out and hope I make it into the Top 20!!  BTW, you can see all the entries HERE.  I hope you like it too and TFL!

You Rock

Hi all!  I have a card for a couple challenges today:

SparkleAndShine7

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday and got my colors from the Little Tangles challenge – Peach and Mint.

I started with an A2 panel of watercolor paper and watercolored in a rectangle with (retired) Mint Melody ink using the Journaled Weekly 3x4 die as a guide.  Then I die cut a circle out of the same paper and embossed the diamond image from Sparkle and Shine with white embossing powder.  I watercolored over it with Crisp Cantalope ink and also stamped the sentiment on a piece of matching watercolor paper with the same ink.  I finished it off with 3 little stars in mint ink and mounted the sentiment strip and the circle with foam boosters.  The panel was then mounted on a folded A2 card made out of plain Georgia Pacific white cardstock.

This is also for Shopping Our Stash – inspiration photo (I used the peach and mint colors in the photo!) and ABC Challenge – K is for Keep it simple.  I hope you like it and TFL!

You Are Awesome

Hi all!  As is the case most days, I have a card for a couple challenges:

Cuteasaurus1

The sketch is from Retro Sketches and this is also for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge – Anything Goes.

I used the Cuteasaurus set (which includes the sentiment) and matching die and also a word bubble from He Said She Said.  The dinosaur was stamped on patterned paper and die cut and stamped on white cardstock.  For the PP version, I colored just the body with Copics to match the PP and hand cut it out.  Then I colored just the plates on the back with some warm grays on the white diecut.  The word bubble was fussy cut by hand.

The fishtail banner was cut with the YNS Fishtail/Banner Die set and the square was cut with a Nestabilities die.  The detail on the square panel was made with the Square Enhancing Elements and I airbrushed some color for a background.

Gathering Summer

Hi all!  I have a card for a couple challenges today:

GatheringSummer1

I used an image from A Day For Daisies called Gathering Summer and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  She was colored with Copics and fussy cut out with a thin white border.  The doily is from Cheery Lynn Designs and the sentiment is from Pull Tab Sentiments.  The white seam binding was colored with the same copic markers that I used for the image.

This is also for the ADFD Challenge – Add a doily and/or twine and Crazy 4 Challenges - flowers.  I hope you like it and TFL!

Congratulations

Hi all!  Today I have an entry for the Uniko Studio Challenge which is a Spring color palette and the theme of Easter (or something else).  Since I don’t have any Easter stamps from Uniko and the fact that it’s past Easter, I did a congrats card, most likely for a wedding:

Vines1

I used the greenery and flowers from Background Builders: Vines and a sentiment from Flower Power #3

The embossing was done with a double-sided folder from Spellbinders called Framed Petite Labels.  I LOVE this folder – it does such a nice job with all the embossing and then you have the perfect little space to add a sentiment.  Also, it’s big – I can do 5x7” cards with it if I want to!

That’s all for me today.  I hope you like my card and TFL!

FlapHappy6

I used the sketch from the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge and the Flap Happy stamp set with matching die.   The tag is Stitched Fishtail Tag Dies One from YNS.

Smile

Hi all!  I have another Fun Friday challenge post for you.  It’s the start of a new challenge – yay!  Here are the inspiration pic and sketch:

May 2014 - photoMay 2014 Sketch

For today’s card, I went just with the inspiration pic.  I wanted to do a white and yellow flower with some turquoise/aqua and kraft (the colors I got from the pic).  Here’s what I came up with:

WhatNotSentimentsTwo3

I cut the outline die from Flower Fun Three twice out of white cardstock and colored the centers with yellow Copics.  I glued one right on top of the other and then foam mounted the whole thing on my base.  The sentiment is from Whatnot Sentiment Set Two and it was stamped in yellow on a double ended flag cut with the Fishtail/Banner Die Set.

I used sketch #64 from Papertake Weekly (it’s a sketchie free for all week) and this is also for Work It Wednesday – project with patterned paper on it.

We hope you’ll play along with us!  All the details can be found on the YNS Challenge blog.  TFL!
