Don’t Worry.

Hi all!  Today I have a card made for the Little Tangles challenge - “into the woods” – celebrating nature.  Here’s my card:

VintageBliss1

No stamps were harmed in the making of this card. :)  I used a 3x4 paper piece for the focal point and sewed on a chipboard butterfly.  These 2 and the “wood” paper are all from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss collection.  To finish it off, I taped the focal piece on with some “cork” washi tape and added rustic twine tied into a bow.  I hope you like it and TFL!

P.S. There's still time to vote for my video on Facebook - I appreciate anyone who takes the time to check it out!! Click here!

YNS July 2013 Blog Hop Prize

The hop begins on Laura’s Blog and if you’ve been hopping along, you should have arrived from Jen R’s blog

***And now, onto the show!***

For my first project, I have a card using the adorable new Lilah set:

Lilah1

I stamped Lilah in Versamark ink and colored her with colored pencils and OMS.  Her dress was paper pieced and then she was fussy cut out.  I added a piece of “grass” and some felt clouds cut with the Puffy Cloud Dies (which are discontinued so be sure to grab them at 50% off!).

For my next project, I used the new Journaled Weekly die set (which I helped design!!) to make a bunch of Project Life journaling cards:

PL YNS Cards

I plan to do a “week in the life” spread soon in my PL album, so these cards will be perfect!

Each card started with the 3x4 card die (it’s actually just a tad smaller so that it will fit into the Becky Higgins PL page protectors) and then I added a little bracket top in kraft and the day of the week in white cardstock.  For the fun little accents, I used the pieces from the same die set, and also arrows from the Awesome Arrows die set.

BTW – the 3x4 die cuts like a dream!  You can cut different materials and even your pictures!  Because the center is blank, you can see exactly what you’re cutting to make photo cropping a breeze!  And you can also make 3x4 cards out of different materials including heavy cardstock, felt, cork, wood veneer or anything else you’d like!  I’m in love with this die set!

Karen is also offering a terrific Hop Special - 15% off your entire order including  sale items!  Make sure you take advantage of this great deal!

You’re Special

Hi all!  I have a card made for the Color Throwdown 5th Anniversary challenge:

SentimentSampler8

I’m currently enrolled in Online Card Classes’ Summer Card Camp 2 and this coincidentally happened to be the first week color theme.  I also used one of the Camp sketches for this card.

The bow was made using a My Favorite Things die and the sentiment is from Sentiment Sampler

BTW – if you have some time, please go over to the YNS Blog – I have a coloring video up that I’d love for all of you to see!  TFL!

Stitched Rainbow Birthday

Hi all!  I’m taking a class right now called Inked over in the Studio Calico classroom and one of the topics was to use a stamp as a guide for stitching.  Here’s what I came up with:

Inked3

I took an image from the class stamp kit and stamped it 6 times with white ink on kraft cardstock. Then I used a rainbow of embroidery floss to stitch over some of the lines.  Finally I added a Simon Says Stamp folded banner stamped with a sentiment from Waltzingmouse.

This is also for the Little Tangles challenge – birthday.  Hope you like it and TFL!

Fine Feathers

Hi all!  I recently received my little order from Waltzingmouse of 2 gorgeous new sets, Fine Feathers and Funky Feathers.  I was having a play and decided to share the card I made:

FineFeathers1

I stamped the image from Fine Feathers and drew over some of the lines with a Stardust Glitter Pen, then stamped the sentiment from the same set.  Finally I spattered on some Gold with a Wink of Stella pen that I just got from Simon Says Stamp.  Simple, but I hope you like it!  TFL!

First Project Life Post

I’ve talked a couple times about my doing Project Life on the blog so I finally decided to share.  First, I wanted to tell you a little about my process: I don’t have a set timeline for doing my PL spreads.  Meaning, I don’t always make a spread 1 week or 1 page equal 1 week or month or any set length of time.  I’ve taken a very relaxed and stress free approach by just looking through my photos every few days, picking out the ones I like and figuring out where in my latest spread they’ll fit.  This could mean I have a spread that covers just a couple days, or even a whole month or more.  It just depends on how many pictures I took that I want to save.  So you’ll see that my title cards don’t have “Week 16” or whatever on them.  I simply note the first and last dates and that’s my spread!

Here’s one that I recently finished covering June 7 to June 14, 2013.  Here’s the whole spread:

The left page, which included my June PL kit from Studio Calico, a trip to Farrell’s, Griffin’s “shirt” and Buddy with his dog bone:

Love this pic of Griffin (age 4):

Then the right side, which included a trip to get shave ice, haircuts for the boys and Griffin’s preschool graduation:

You can see my journaling is a mix of my own handwriting, some computer journaling and some done on my old manual typewriter.  Also a very laid back way to journal!

I hope you don’t mind some PL on the blog because I’ll probably be sharing spreads every so often from now on!  TFL!

Wheat’s Up?

Happy 4th of July everybody!  I’ve been a slack blogger and barely posted anything last month!  The reason is that I’ve been working really hard on catching up with Project Life so I haven’t had much time for cardmaking.  I’ll be sure to share some of my finished PL layouts when I have time to photograph them (if you’re not interested, please just skip past those posts!).

Anyway, I have a card today using Howdy, Farmer and the sketch from Mojo Monday:

HowdyFarmer3

He’s colored with Prismacolor colored pencils and OMS.  In fact, I filmed a video of myself coloring him that you may see in the future – my first coloring video!!  I hope you like my card and TFL!
