Hi all and welcome to my stop on the April YNS New Release Blog Hop! If you’ve been following the links, you should have come from Danielle’s blog. If you’ve just happened upon my post, please go back to the beginning at Carole’s blog (links are at the bottom of this post) because you won’t want to miss a stop!
This is such a great release! I asked Karen for a stitched rectangle die set and here it is – I think I’ll be using that set a LOT! We also have some really cute stamp sets and dies (my favorite is the new Waddles Happy Brrrthday set)! I’m also loving the new Large Bookmark dies – I recently got a heat laminator and it’s perfect to preserve those special bookmarks I make!
Well, I think that’s enough chatter, let’s get on with the show!
First up I have one of those laminated bookmarks I was just talking about:
I used the new Bookworms Rule set for the sentiment and cut the bookmark with the Large Bookmark die set. I simply cut a piece of patterned paper with the largest of the Stitched Rectangles, stamped the sentiment with the help of my MISTI, and cut a slit in the middle with my Fiskars trimmer to insert the bookmark.
The bookmark is just a piece of double-sided patterned paper cut with the 3rd largest bookmark die and laminated with a 5 mil laminating pouch. I cut it out with scissors, punched the hole with my Crop-A-Dile II and tied 3 colors of baker’s twine through the top.
For my second project, I’ve made what I’m calling a Center Step Card that I’ve made a couple times before (if somebody has already come up with this card fold, please LMK and I’ll give them credit – I couldn’t find any others when I searched).
I used the Waddles Happy Brrrthday set which includes the sentiment. The sentiment strip was cut using the Stitched Rectangles set (and no, there isn’t one that particular size – I double cut the die cut to get it that size). Here’s a top view of the card so you can better see the platform:
I’ve also made 2 videos for this card. Part 1 shows how to make the card base and Part 2 is the decorating of the card.
And here’s the pattern that I mentioned in Part 1:One random commenter will be drawn from all the comments on all the blog on the hop and will receive a $20 YNS Gift Certificate! And as always, there’s a super sale to help you get all the new releases and more!
And now you’re off to Brianna’s Blog, but don’t forget to leave a comment before you go! Happy Hopping!
