La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #19
Wednesday means it's time for another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week our theme was set by Kathy and is "How Charming" - use charms on your projects. I love charms so this was a great challenge for me! Here's what I came up with:
I used Hot Cocoa Whiskers and a Sweet Sunday Sketch. I stamped the image, colored with Copics, and paper pieced just the cup with a scrap of the same paper. I used a craft knife to cut around Whiskers' hand so that the paper pieced cup would go underneath it.
I added the charm with a double-bow and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink. I hope you like it!
We'd love to have you play along with us! All the details can be found on the La-La Land Crafts blog. TFL!

La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #18
Wednesday means it's time for another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week our challenge was set by Kim and is "Anything but a card." It's been a while since I made anything that wasn't a card so I really had to put my thinking cap on for this one! I finally came up with a picture frame magnet:
I stamped Angel Lala, colored her with Copics and paper pieced her dress. I spread Stardust glitter pen all over her halo and wings with a waterbrush, and then glued superfine glitter to just the edges of the halo and wings for a little extra sparkle. Lastly, I cut her out and mounted her foam boosters.
For the frame, I stuck some Basic Grey paper to self-adhesive magnet sheet and cut out the frame using an old Sizzix die. I tied a bit of ribbon around it, stuck a beaded pin in the knot, and added on Lala. I thought this would be the perfect way to stick pictures of your little angel on the fridge!
We hope you'll play along with us! All the details can be found on the La-La Land Crafts blog. TFL!

Pure Innocence Pile It On!
This week our challenge is to use anything digital and here's what I came up with:
I used this adorable winter image from Digi Stamp Characters by Heather Ellis (the Pure Innocence line). I printed her out and colored with Copics. I accented the snow with a little glitter and used some pretty Basic Grey papers from the Eskimo Kisses paper pad. The sentiment is from the Elegant Christmas set from The Cat's Pajamas.
Challenges:
- Pile It On! - Anything Digital (and combine with at least one other challenge)
- I Heart 2 Stamp - Sketch
- Kaboodle Doodles - Sparkling Winter
- The Pink Elephant - Winter and/or Christmas
- Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
- My Time To Craft - Yuletide Wishes
- Little Red Wagon - Sewing
- Bee Crafty - Circles (and must use something digi)
- Our Creative Corner - Let it Snow!

Your Next Stamp Challenge #6
* * * * * * * * * *
Yay! I have another Your Next Stamp Challenge today! Our challenge was set by Kerri and is to use this fabulous sketch:
And here's what I came up with:
I used the set Let It Snow and some super cute papers from My Mind's Eye.
I stamped the snowman twice and colored with Copics. I cut out one full snowman and then just the hat and scarf from the second and layered those pieces on the first with foam boosters. The whole snowman was also popped up on foam boosters. The snowflake was cut from glitter cardstock with a Sizzix die and I tied a button to the center with crochet thread. I distressed all the edges of the papers and did some machine stitching to finish it off. Finished card size is 4.5" x 5.5".
We hope you'll play along with us! One lucky participant will be drawn at random to win the Cupcake Cutie Single Stamp!! You don't have to use YNS images on your card, but if you do you'll get a double entry in the draw!
Also, the challenge hostess will choose her favorite card, and that winner will get the YNS Challenge "Top Pick" blinkie to proudly display on their blog PLUS a $5 gift certificate to spend at the Your Next Stamp store!
Full details can be found at the YNS Challenge Blog. TFL!

We would really appreciate it if you could help spread the word about our Blog Hop on your blog or just by word of mouth if you don't have a blog :-)
And now, it's time for my card!
I stamped Rosie twice and colored with Copics. For the bottom layer, I cut her out, leaving out the crown and the hand on the right side (they're so small, they just didn't look right under the top layer). For the top layer, I cut her out, leaving out the bottom ruffle of the dress and her legs and shoes.
For the extra ruffle, I did a running stitch on a piece of ribbon and then gathered it and glued/taped it to the bottom Rosie. You can see it a little better in this close shot:
I also added a bunch of tiny rhinestones and glitter pen to Rosie and the patterned paper. The papers are from Imaginisce and the sketch is from Unscripted. I hope you like it!
My secret words are "the courage." The next stop on the Hop is the fabulously talented Kristine. Thanks very much for joining us for our Blog Hop!

Your Next Stamp Blog Hop
Hello everybody! Thanks for joining us for another fun and fabulous Your Next Stamp Blog Hop! YNS just released a new Fhiona set (Fitness Fhiona) and a bunch of Cute Little Buggies and Animals so the Starlets (and 2 awesome guest designers!) have whipped up some eye candy using many of the new images.
If you came here by way of Lana's blog, then you're on the right track! If not, please go back and start at Karen's blog because you won't want to miss a stop - one grand prize winner will be randomly drawn to win 6 of the new releases of their choice!! To qualify, you need to comment at all the blogs on the hop with the answer to this question: Which new release stamp/set is your favorite?
Here's the hop order again in case you missed it:
Lana
Maureen (you're here!)
Maylee
Jen del Muro (joining us for FUN - yay!)
Simonne
Amy
Angela - Guest DT for December
Kerri
Cabio
One last thing before I get to my projects for today - Karen is offering a super special while the Hop is on (Dec. 10 - 14 at midnight EST) - a FREE stamp or stamp set of your choice from the YNS store with a purchase of $55 or more!!
For my first project, I have a clean and simple card using one of the new animals, the adorable Sammy Squirrl:
I colored Sammy with Copics, then cut him and the mat out with Nestabilities. The tree paper is from Upsy Daisy Designs and I made the sentiment myself using 2 different alphabet sets (the smaller one is from Papertrey Ink and the larger is Close To My Heart). I finished it off with some sponging, light distressing, and a couple buttons tied with twine.
For my second project, Karen challenged us to make some form of gift wrap, box or bag. I was inspired by projects from Cindy Lyles and Val Stangle to make a gift box of notecards:
I used the new super cute Bee Stings and some really old Imaginisce paper. On the box, I popped up an extra head for the bee for dimension, but I left all the notecard images flat for easy mailing.
Here's a shot of all the notecards and a matching envelope:
I computer generated a sheet with the sayings placed so that they would end up where I wanted them (it took me many tries to get it right, but now I have a template I can use whenever I want!). After printing, I just had to do a little trimming to get them down to the correct size. If you're interested, the sayings are Don't worry, bee happy!, Buzzing by to say hi!, What's the buzz?, and Just bee-cause!
The bees were all colored with Copics and I added Stardust glitter pen on the wings. I embossed the yellow strips with the Birds and Swirls Cuttlebug folder and stitched buttons to the box. Thanks so much to Cindy and Val for the inspiration and especially to Val for the great project and tutorial!
Just a quick reminder - there's still time to enter the YNS Challenge #5 - make a birthday project with hearts. The deadline is December 15 and all the details can be found on the YNS Challenge Blog.
I hope you liked my projects and thanks for hopping along with us! Your next stop is the incredibly talented Maylee.
La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #16
Yay! Wednesday means it's time for another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week our theme was set by Lisa and is a color challenge: Lisa says, "I'm loving the 'new' Christmas colors of pink and green... so the challenge is to use pink, green and a neutral in your card."
I'm also loving the pink and green combo for holiday cards and here's what I came up with:
I used Ornament Lala and the Sweet Sunday Sketch.
I stamped Lala and colored her with Copics. For once I didn't cut her out and pop her up with foam boosters (to save some time). I used some old Daisy Bucket papers, a few buttons, ribbon, and a rub-on from Making Memories.
We hope you'll play along with us! All the details can be found on the La-La Land Crafts blog. TFL!

Christmas Michu Pile It On!
I printed Christmas Michu (who can be found in the Softpencil Etsy shop), colored him with Copics, then cut him out and popped him up on foam boosters. I also flocked his hat and coat trim for some extra texture.
For the snowy ground under him, I drew a line with a black liner pen, and then glued on some homemade Flower Soft, that I like to refer to as "Holly Soft" (you can find the tutorial on Holly's blog here), mixed with a bit of iridescent glitter.
Here's a close shot so you can see it a little better:
Challenges:
- Pile It On! - "Tinsel Town" (use glitter)
- Papertake Weekly - sketch
- Stamp n' Scrap Hawaii - use an animal image
- Quixotic Challenges - "Be Charming"
- Little Red Wagon - "Heavy Metal"
- Stamp Something - "Glitzy Somethings"

La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #15
* * * * * * * * * *
Wednesday means it's time for another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week our theme was set by our DT Coordinator Jane, and is Buttons! I love adding buttons to my cards so this was a great challenge for me!
Also, I know this is late, but Sunday was my fellow La-La Land DT member Lisa Hjulberg's birthday! I made this card with her in mind:
I used Birthday Lala and gave her a haircut again, like I did with this card because I really love the short sassy 'do! I also used a really fun sketch from Sketchy Thursday and some super old papers from a company that's since gone out of business.
Lala was stamped, colored with Copics, cut out and popped up on foam boosters. I did a whole bunch of sewing and added a couple Prima flowers, and of course, buttons! Lastly I stamped a sentiment from Papertrey Ink on a thin strip of cardstock and then snipped down to almost the bottom to make the strip able to follow the curve of the circle (I got the idea from this post by Debbie Olson).
We hope you'll play along with us! All the details can be found on the La-La Land Crafts blog. TFL!
Your Next Stamp Challenge #5
Yay! I have another Your Next Stamp Challenge today! This week our theme was set by Cabio and is to make a birthday card with hearts! Here's what I came up with:
I used Cupcake Cutie Fhiona and a great sketch from PaperPlay Challenges. I also finally used some of this super adorable Doodlebug paper that I've been hoarding for months!
I stamped Fhiona and colored her with Copics. Then I cut her out using a circle Nestabilities die and because I felt the whole thing was too white, I sponged the edges of the circle. Then I sponged the patterned papers to match. I added a couple heart brads, heart buttons, machine stitching, ribbon, and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink.
We hope you'll play along with us! One lucky winner will be drawn at random to win the Shopper Fhiona set!! You don't have to use YNS images on your card, but if you do you'll get a double entry in the draw! Also, we'll have a Top Pick winner (not a random draw) from all the entries that will get a $5 coupon for the YNS store! And last, but certainly not least, if you can't play along, leave a comment anyway because one commenter will be drawn at random to win a $5 coupon to the YNS store! Full details can be found at the YNS Challenge Blog. TFL!

La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #14
Yay! It's time for another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week I'm hosting and I've chosen a 3-2-1 Recipe as my challenge. I would like you to use 3 patterned papers, 2 colors of cardstock (white counts as a color), and 1 type of embellishment.
Now since opinions can differ as to what is an embellishment, I've made a list of the 'bellies that I think have more visual "weight" and count for purposes of this challenge: ribbon/lace, buttons, gems/pearls/acrylic drops, beads, charms, brads/eyelets, other metal hardware and flowers. So pick one type off the list, but you can use as many of that one type as you like! Anything that's not on the list is ok (such as glitter, liquid applique, punched pieces, Flower Soft, etc.). I hope this isn't too complicated and that you have fun with this challenge!
Here's my card:
I used Winter Lala and a sketch from Card Patterns. Lala was stamped, colored with Copics, cut out and popped up on foam boosters. All the patterned papers are from the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses 6x6 paper pad and the cardstock is Bazzill. To finish off the card I added some little gems, a bunch of sewing, and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink.
Other challenges:
- Stamp n' Scrap Hawaii - stitching
- Timeless Tuesday Challenge - Christmas
- Papertake Weekly Challenge - Christmas Crackers
- Creative Card Crew - Favorite Things (La-La Land stamps are some of my favorites and I adore these Basic Grey patterned papers!)

Glitter Snowflake Pile It On!
This week our challenge is to use rub-ons and this is what I came up with:
That big snowflake in the center is a CTMH rub-on that I accented with Stickles, an extra sprinkle of glitter and some tiny rhinestones. The patterned paper and red cardstock (which I embossed with a Spellbinders snowflake Impressabilities template) are also from CTMH - thanks Amy! To give the card a little more interest, I did a blanket stitch around the edge of the red circle with white crochet thread. It was easy to do and I think it lends a really homey touch to the card.
Challenges:
- Pile It On! - rub-ons
- The Pink Elephant - sketch
- Quixotic Challenges - colors kraft and red
- Stamp n' Scrap Hawaii - stitching

La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #13
* * * * * * * * * *
Wednesday means it's time for another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week our theme was set by none other than our super fabulous and talented Irina and is "We are thankful for you", just in time for Thanksgiving. The challenge is to make a Thank You card or project.
Before I show you my card, I want to let you know that there is blog candy to be won!!
Here is what's in our Blog Candy for you this time:
- Pumpkin Lala
- Spellbinders Shapeabilities Nested Maple Leaves
- Two of Heidi Grace Clear Stamp sets
- Hero Arts DesignBlock Background Stamp
- Magenta Tree Stamp
- HOTP Autumn Leaves
- Making Memories Autumn Splendor Sheer Frames
- Prima Daisy Doodles set of Flowers
To enter into the Blog Candy you just need to participate in the Thankful Challenge. Please also spread the word and mention our Blog Candy on your blogs. The winner will be randomly picked from your entries into the Challenge.
And now on to my card! Here's what I came up with this week:
I used Sitting Lala and a sketch from Friday Sketchers.
I stamped Lala, colored her with Copics (with just a bit of colored pencils around the irises), cut her out and popped her up with foam boosters. I very lightly distressed all the straight edges of the patterned papers and sewed down the 2 green strips. Lastly I added some ribbon, flowers with leaves, and a sentiment.
We'd love to have you join us! Please see the La-La Land Crafts blog for all the details! TFL!
Other materials used: sentiment (Mega Mixed Messages set) and Dark Chocolate ink - Papertrey Ink ; patterned paper - Pebbles Inc.; vanilla cardstock - Stampin' Up!; ribbon - My Favorite Things; hydrangea flowers - Prima; roses - Paper Wishes; rectangle and scalloped rectangle Nestabilities.
Your Next Stamp Challenge #4
Yay! I have another Your Next Stamp Challenge today! Our challenge was set by Stephanie and is to create a thank you card. Here's what I came up with:
I decided to use Yippee Fhiona because she's so cute and fun! She was stamped, colored with Copics, cut out and popped up on foam boosters. I used the Sketch For You To Try from Jen del Muro. YNS is sponsoring the SFYTT this week and you still have a couple days to enter to win a $10 gift certificate to the store!
The sentiment is a Quickutz diecut which I cut out of cardstock a few times, and then once out of patterned paper and glued them all together. I wanted it pretty thick so it would stand out from the PP underneath. For the mat around the Nesties label, I just traced the outside of the same die with a pencil on the back of the PP and cut it out.
This week we have a change in the rules for playing along with our challenge - you don't have to use a YNS image, but if you do, you will get an extra entry in the random drawing for the prize of $10 in YNS Bucks! Also, everyone who participates in this challenge will get one of the limited edition Christmas/Winter digis for FREE! If you've already got all of the digis, then you'll get a $3 coupon code to use at the store! So c'mon and play with us!! For full details, please see the YNS Challenge Blog. TFL!

Winner of YNS Blog Hop!
I have the random winner of the 2 Christmas digis today! After going through all the comments and finding the ones that listed their fave new Fhiona set or Christmas digi, I did the random generator thing (sorry, I'm feeling a bit under the weather and didn't have the energy to do a picture of the winning number), and I came up with: Mary of My Scrap Happy Life! Congrats Mary!! Please email Karen: karen(at)yournextstamp(dot)com with your 2 individual digi image choices.
Thanks again to everybody for joining us for the hop! Just a little reminder that there will be a new YNS Challenge posted tomorrow and we'd love to have you all play along!

Warm Penguin Wishes
Today I have a card that I made for a bunch of challenges, and also because I really wanted to use my Penguin Love set from There She Goes. I got the idea to make a sort of quilt looking card and here's what I came up with:
All the squares are 1.5" and the papers are old Basic Grey. For the little scene squares, I was inspired by this card and other similar cards all by Jessica Knutsen. I couldn't do tone on tone because you'd never see white on white, so I stamped the backgrounds in a light blue ink, and then added the penguins popped up on foam boosters. Each one has some paper pieced clothing all stamped on the same scrap of striped PP.
After I distressed and sponged the edges of all the squares, I sewed them to a piece of Kraft cardstock with a combination of straight and zigzag stitches. Next I diecut a piece of chipboard and some glitter cardstock with a Sizzix snowflake die and glued them together. I poked 2 holes in the snowflake and then sewed it with a button to the quilt with crochet thread. I also sewed on all the other buttons with crochet thread. Lastly I sponged the edges of the white base and glued the quilt to it.
Challenges:
- There She Goes - use chipboard
- A Spoon Full of Sugar - create a scene
- Crafty Creations - snow
- Quixotic - stitching
- Little Red Wagon - use last year's Christmas scraps
- 3 Clovers - Birds or Bugs
- Cute Card Thursday - glitter
- Flourishes - inspired by "My Favorite Things" lyrics (I have warm woolen mittens and the kraft quilt base is like a brown paper package, then the button in the center is tied up with strings!)

La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #12
Before I get to this week's challenge, I have a couple things to share. First, Monday was our Guest DT Katie Tate's birthday! Her creations are totally fabulous and she is a queen of combining challenges, as well as putting on her own challenges at Cooking It Up With Katie, so please check her out and leave her some love!
Second, La-La Land Crafts will be at the Stamp in the Hand Show in Carson, CA on November 14-15 at the Stamp On Over booth, so if you're anywhere near there, stop by! Ok, now on to the challenge!
This week our challenge was set by Kathy and is to use die cuts/punches. This is a pretty easy challenge for me since I use my Nesties on almost every single card I make! But just to make it fit the challenge a little more, I also used a snowflake diecut from Sizzix:
I used the super cute Candy Cane Lala and this sketch from Card Patterns:
Lala was colored with Copics, cut out and popped up with foam boosters. I gave her a snowy hill to stand on by coloring in a hill shape with a really light blue Copic, and then covering the hill with glitter. The snowflake was die cut from glitter cardstock and the final touches were the gems, ribbon and a Making Memories rub-on. The papers are all Basic Grey (Eskimo Kisses collection).
Other challenges:
- Stampin' B's - Christmas card
- Allsorts - bling
- Cupcake Craft - snow

Your Next Stamp Blog Hop
Hey everybody! Thanks so much for joining us for another super awesome Your Next Stamp Blog Hop! Your Next Stamp has 3 new Fhiona sets (Wedding, Bad Hair Day, and New Year's) plus the Limited Edition Christmas digis that were recently released so the Starlets have whipped up some yummy eye candy for you using the new stamps!
You've reached the last stop on the hop! If you didn't come here from Stephanie's blog, you'll definitely want to go back and start at the beginning of the hop: If you comment at every stop on the hop, you'll be entered to win one of the brand new Fhiona sets (3 winners in all)! Also, Karen is looking for a name for Fhiona's best buddy/hubby, so anyone who posts a name suggestion on Karen's blog will get an extra entry into the Wedding Fhiona giveaway!
Lastly, each blog will be giving away 2 of the new Christmas digis to a random commenter! For your chance here at my blog, please leave a comment letting me know which of the new Fhionas or Christmas digis is your fave! The deadline for commenting for the giveaways is midnight EST, November 16 and all winners will be posted on Karen's blog on November 17. I will also be posting my digi winner here on my blog.
Here's the hop order again in case you missed it:
One last thing to mention before I get to my projects: Karen is offering 10% off all week, plus there will be a surprise gift in every order! The coupon code is YNSBH2.
For my first project, I used Bad Hair Day Fhiona as she was meant to be used. I paired her with some really old Rob and Bob paper and used a sketch from Unscripted Sketches.
She was colored with Copics and her brush was cut out and extra bristles popped up for dimension. I did a bunch of sewing and added the sentiment all cut up (I really love the look of this and have done it a bunch with my YNS cards).
For my next project, I decided to do another easel card since I had so much fun with my first one! I used Bad Hair Day Fhiona again, but this time I saw her all bundled up for the winter with a steaming cup of hot cocoa:
This time I watercolored her and flocked the collar and cuffs of her robe. I used a sketch from Sketchy Thursday and some yummy papers from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses paper pad. This card also qualifies for Lili of the Valley - 3 papers, 2 stamps, 1 type of embellishment, Secret Crafter and Crazy 4 Challenges - both easel cards. Lastly, the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
Here's a close shot so you can see the coloring and flocking:
My final project came from the lastest Splitcoast newsletter. Beate had a great tutorial for a luminaria that I thought would go perfectly with the new Christmas digis!
The opposite sides of the luminaria have the same design. Here's the first design using Stripey Snowman with Happy Holidays:
And here's the second design using Decorated Christmas Tree:
I liked the idea so much that I made it into a .cut file for the Cricut so I can make multiples for gifts! I used all of Beate's dimensions except I cut the height down to 4" so that I could cut 2 out of a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper. [If you'd like the .cut file, please scroll to the bottom of this post.]
Before I go, I want to remind you that there's still time to play in the YNS Challenge #3 - make a Christmas project without the colors red and green!
Whew! That’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed my projects and thanks so much for joining us on the hop!
You can get the .cut file here and here's Beate's tutorial which tells you where to score.
If you like the .cut file, please leave me a comment and let me know. Also, I'd love to see any projects you make with my file! Thanks very much to Beate for such a fun project!!
Happy Day Scene
I used the Happy Day set from There She Goes and this cool sketch from Get Sketchy (flipped upside down):
I wanted to share something with you - sometimes when I use a really complicated sketch, I'll make a scrap paper version so I know what sizes to cut my papers:
It really helps me to not waste patterned papers by cutting them in the wrong sizes (except in this case where I tried about 3 different papers before settling on the blue one!).
This card was pretty simple (once I figured out my pattern). I paper pieced the tree, grass and bird, and distressed all the edges of the sketch pieces. All the paper is from the Nutmeg Mini Deck from Cosmo Cricket. Lastly, I added some cross stitches with crochet thread for a little interest.
Other challenges:
- Stamp with Fun - card with a scene
- There She Goes - Cause a scene (project with a scene)
- 365 Cards - ad inspired (I was inspired by the colors - red, green and orange)
- Kaboodle Doodles - Fall theme (I used Fall colors)

La-La’s Weekly Wednesday Challenge #11
* * * * * * * * * *
It's Wednesday so I have another La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge for you! This week our theme was set by Kim and is "Pink" - it doesn't have to be all pink, just mostly pink. As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew I wanted to make a pink Santa Lala card!
I've been seeing easel cards everywhere and really love the look so I decided to try one!
I stamped Lala twice on plain cardstock and once on the polka dot paper. On the first cardstock version, I colored her face, hair, neck and legs with Copics. On the second version I colored her hands and belt with Copics, then I cut out the hands with trim attached, all the other trim pieces of her dress and hat, and the belt. I cut out the hat, dress and shoes from the polka dot paper. Then I just layered them as you see here. I added a few bits of scrap cardstock under her hat for a little dimension and I flocked all the trim pieces. This qualifies for the Stamp Something challenge - cute and fuzzy. Lala is super cute and all the trim on her outfit is fuzzy!
Here's a close shot of the adorable pieced Lala:
I used Sketch #12 from Get Sketchy:
The Bonus Challenge is to use spray ink so I sprayed the flowers with Pearl Glimmer Mist for sparkle.
For the inside, I cut and border punched a strip of cardstock, glued a thinner strip of patterned paper to the top of it, and scrap strips to the bottom (for extra height) to act as the stopper. Lastly I embellished the card with snowflakes punched from glitter cardstock, Prima flowers, punched branches, buttons with silver cord, and a rub-on sentiment from Basic Grey. Daring Cardmakers wants to see our newest punch and that would be my McGill Pine Branch punch.
We'd love to have you join us! All the details can be found on the La-La Land Crafts Blog. TFL!
