La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #3

Wednesday means it's time for a new La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge! This week our theme was chosen by Kim and is Bling Bling! Here's my card:

The sketch came from Card Positioning Systems:


And I had to use Fairy Lala because I thought she'd be perfect all blinged up! I paper pieced her dress and shoes and then colored the rest of her with Copics. I cut out an extra star that I lightly colored, Stickled, and then popped up with a couple layers of scrap cardstock. Her wings were also Stickled and then I glued glitter all around the focal layer using the Nestie's embossing line as a guide.

For her eyes, I colored the whole iris with a green Copic then carefully went around the outside with a VERY sharp green colored pencil. I recently saw a woman on TV and noticed that her eyes had a dark line around the edge of the iris so I've started doing that with my Lala eyes lately. Also, to get a smaller highlight, I use a fine black marker to color in the pupil until the highlight gets to the size I want. In this case, when I finished she looked a little cross-eyed, so I just colored the whole thing black, and then spotted in the highlights with a white Inkssentials pen.

For a more subtle sparkle I added a little Stardust glitter pen moved around with a water brush to her hair.

For the real bling of the card, I used a portion of a Prima crystals frame. I love the bling but I just couldn't see using that whole frame on a card - WAY too much! Also, I save money this way because instead of getting only 3 frames out of the package, I can use it for many different projects!

To finish off the card, I did some zig-zag stitching with light pink thread, added a bit of ribbon and a charm. I hope you like it and I also hope that you'll play along with us this week! Please see the La-La Land Blog for all the details!
